View Full Version : A Good Central NJ Town for Families?

Hello NJ!

We are moving there from San Francisco in January. Looking for a good, child-friendly town between Farmingdale (my new job) and NYC (wife's job, will commute somehow). Would prefer a town with a more "family vibe" as we have 2-year old twins. We love old people, but I don't want to be the youngest person in town. We are looking for the small town feel with some hipness to it.

We heard Matawan was nice, but my wife went there and was a little disappointed. Heard Red Bank was nice, but heard the schools weren't as good as other places. Freehold has now come up as a nice place, but I don't know.

Would greatly appreciate any thoughts or suggestions!

Thanks in advance!

Sayreville is nice and it is close to the train in South Amboy to get to NY

Thanks for the reply. Is there anyone else out there who can give their 2 cents about Middletown, Rumson or the Red Bank as far as a good place to live from someone used to the "city life"?

Rumson is expensive that is where BRuce Springsteen and Bon Jovi are from. Middletown is great and not a bad trip into the city by bus car or Train
