Here is where you can post about who you think should be included in the Historical figure category. Pleasse give a reason why, since not everyone may be familiar with the person's accomplishments.

When I read about the death of Wally Schirra yesterday, I recalled he was a native of Oradell. The Bergen Record gave his exploits much coverage during the period when he was an astronaut. The link below takes you to the Record's article about his life. The quote from fellow astronaut "Buzz" Aldrin, also a New Jerseyan, is good. Aldrin said "It was nice finding someone else [in the space program] from what I think is an underestimated state."

All New Jerseyans should be proud of these two pioneers in space.

Thanks Jersey Warren for posting that. I didn't know he was a New Jerseyan. I knew Buzz Aldrin was though. Buzz's comment about New Jersey is so completely true though - New Jersey is completely underestimated.
