This is an e-mail question I received recently...

I am unable to find out information about weddings in the parks, is there a site to help me with that? We would like to get married in NJ, in a nice park.

I know the state parks allow weddings in them, but you need to have insurance for the day and you need to appy for a special use permit. I wil get the details from the state regarding this. As for other parks, it's probably a local jurisdiction item and all parks are probably different.

While not a park, A friend of mine had his Wedding and reception at the Garden State Arts Center on the Garden State Parkway (about exit 116) with the reception following there as well.

You can check individual parks and see if they have a comment regarding weddings.

From the web Page I think Michele covers questions for all the state parks.

Special use permits are required to reserve sections of the Park for private or public functions. These may be requested at (609) 737-0623.
This number I think is only for the Princeton Battlefield Park.

I hope this information is useful to you.

No- special use permits are for all parks and that number is for Washington Crossing, which Princeton Battlefield is covered under. I'm going to get with someone I know in the state parks system - a Superintendant who will be able to provide me with all the information for the state park information. We just had our Fall Festival for Princeton Battlefield, so I know a bit about what goes into holding things on the state park grounds. I have talked to David previously about weddings, but that was only in passing and not dealing with just weddings.
